A short stint in SLC

TLDR: I moved from Jackson, MS to Salt Lake City, UT for 10 months, adopted a happy little shadow, fell in love with film, and found one of the most important people in my life <3

For someone born and raised in Jackson, MS, Salt Lake City was never a place I wanted to live.

I moved out for the right reason and the wrong person. My girlfriend at the time had lived there for a year prior to us making the trip together, and a year of long distance was more than i wanted to handle. I had a lot of anxieties about moving out there because of the frequency that we argued, but I just told myself that it’d go away after we lived together or if it didn’t then I’d know that my gut was telling the truth. I only wish things had ended after the breakup that came in March. Unfortunately they only continued going down hill. But it was in this decline that I found a new love for film photography amongst a couple of other things.

Shortly after the move to SLC, I adopted a sweet black shepherd mix who I named Kodak.
